The Prophecy by JLA

Guy! GUYS!!! Guys!! Oh my goodness this book!

So, I don't think I have had a good UGLY cry because of a book since reading Me Before You last year, but seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY! I cried so ugly during this book, but in the end, it was so worth it.

Alright, so let's talk about this book and I will tell you now that if you don't want to know what happens in the book, now is your chance to turn back because ***SPOILERS AHEAD***

I'm going to start off with what I didn't really care for in this book, which was very little. There was something that really upset me, though. It made sense as far as the plot went, but it still really bothered me because I really loved him! So, we find out in this book that Collin was actually not Collin and was actually one of Ares children, Enyo. His body disappears after he is killed by a fury during a particularly ugly bout of fighting between the Halfs and Pures. I just thought that it was because Apollo was going to do something because he is a pretty sh** father to Josie except for a few redeeming moments, which we will talk about later, but no! Oh no.... Collin is actually the goddess of war in disguise and creating all kinds of turmoil in the dorms. I was very much hurt after that, not to mention I was already ugly crying because of what happens before that.

Okay, now onto the GOOD! because honestly that was the only thing I really didn't like about this book.

So, Seth's character sees some major development in this book for sure. He finds out he's going to be a daddy at the end of The Struggle and it's like his cold heart melts the rest of the way, because let's be honest, his love for Josie melted it most of the way already. He really finds himself, though when he sees the actual destruction that his actions from the first series and the other three books have caused. The Titans are not supposed to die, and he had killed three of them angering the Titans that were still left living and causing devastating natural disasters all over the world. His moment of triumph comes, though, when he sacrifices his own life to ensure that Josie and his child can live in a world free from Titans and the devastation they had created (insert ugly cry face here... and then give me twenty minutes to gather myself up).

Then you have Apollo. Oh Apollo. He tries so hard and you can tell he loves Josie even though he is trying so hard to be indifferent because he wasn't supposed to even know her. His shining moment happens at the very end of the book. Seth comes back after his death because, well, he's like an infinite being now, and he proposes to Josie so they can get married. So, this is where my least favorite parts combine into some more ugly crying because Enyo comes in and she stabs Josie and Apollo steps in to save both her and her unborn baby by sacrificing himself. Even though he doesn't seem to be the greatest dad throughout the books, you can tell in this scene that he has known this was going to happen all along and then you kind of wonder if that's why he kept his distance. I mean, being the god of prophecy has to be hard when you know what's going to happen.

The best part of this book is that I feel it leaves things a little open ended so that if JLA wants to do some more in the future with maybe Seth and Josie's offspring, she totally can. And also, I love the name she uses for the baby.

That's all I've got for you guys this time! Leave a comment if you have read it and know what the baby's name is and what you thought of the series!

See you again soon!
