Unraveled by Kate Jarvik Birch

Hey all and welcome back after my short little hiatus! Vacation and other family outings had kept me from being able to complete very many books until just recently so let's get started with this, shall we?!

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Unraveled by Kate Jarvik Birch is the third and I believe the final installment in the Perfected series. This was a good series, short and straight to the point. I do have to say that the wait between the books was a little longer than some series that I've read, but in my opinion worth it. The series starts out with a Congressman and his wife choosing 16 year old Ella out of a group of Pets. By the way, humans are bred to be pets in this futuristic drama and then sold to the highest bidder. The Congressman who purchases Ella just happens to be the front man of it all. Throughout the series, Ella discovers her true self and that she is just a regular person like anyone else even if she did come from a test tube.

While the ending is quite dramatic in this book, I am still not quite sure how I felt about the middle part. Because I hadn't read the second book anytime recently, I did have some difficulty getting back into the mindset required for this book. Birch does a great job at keeping the action up and keeping things moving, but with such a large gap between the books I almost had to reread the second book to remember what was going on.

This book was also a little predictable when it came to who was going to die, who the bad guy was, who the double crosser is, etc. I had most of it figured out early on. The only thing that surprised me was the ending. I did not see Ella blowing herself up along with everyone who was in the building with her. I was glad she survived it, but I did not see her actually detonating the bomb she had planted with Markus earlier in the book.

In all honestly, while I liked the series as a whole because it is a different premise than most of what I've read, I do have to say that this book by itself was pretty lackluster. I enjoyed books one and two much more than this one. Despite that, I would still recommend the series. I gave this third book a three star rating on Goodreads.

Alright, everyone! That's all I've got for today! Make sure you check out my Youtube channel. I will be uploading more book chat videos there in the coming months. As always, feel free to leave feedback in the comments!
