Hey all! So, to continue on with the Top Five Tuesdays, I have my top five children's chapter books for you. Reading outside the classroom is just as important as reading in it. My picks for this category may seem fun, but this list also includes a few items that helped to inspire me to love learning.
#5
The Dear America books
This is a series that I still go back and read sometimes as an adult (to be honest, I've read all of the books on this list as an adult). This is a historical fiction series that covers so many different eras in our country's history. As this series has developed, it has continued to grow and extend beyond what it was when I was a child. My favorite book in this series was Standing in the Light.
#4
The Chronicles of Narnia
I was exposed to this series at the tender age of 7, when my second grade teacher decided to read them out loud to our class during our story time. As I got older and began to understand the books better, I developed a love for the magical world of Narnia and have gone back multiple times since then.
#3
Harry Potter
Yes, some of these books are a bit mature, but I grew up with them. Like, literally, I grew up reading these books. My life revolved around the publishing date of these books. I preordered as soon as I figured out what that was and my dad and I would read these books together and talk about them. These were such a huge part of my childhood and it makes my heart happy to know that children today still recognize this name and get excited when they hear it.
#2
Time Quintet
You may have heard the title A Wrinkle in Time, but did you know that that is just the first book in a five book series? These books were so good!! I have read them so many times and my copies of the books are totally well loved!
#1
Ella Enchanted
A fantastic retelling of Cinderella, Gail Carson Levine adds her usual quirky twist. You may have seen the movie, but trust me when I say that it doesn't even compare to the magic that you will find within the pages of the book.
That's what I have for you this week for my Top Five Tuesday. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite chapter books were as a child!
