Top Five in Adult SciFi Fantasy: TOP FIVE TUESDAYS!

Hey everyone! I took last week off for the holiday and I am back today with another Top Five Tuesday! Today we are going to look at some of my favorite Sci Fi Fantasy authors and their books.

#5
Laurell K Hamilton

Now, if I'm being honest, I haven't really enjoyed much of her more recent work, but her Anita Blake series and Merry Gentryseries had to be added to the list because the first few of them are just soooo gooood!! I remember when I first started reading the Anita books, when to got to the point where I had to wait for the next one it was awful! I wanted to know what happened and what was going on. Anita, to me, was a total bada$$ and I just loved her character. Now, unfortunately, I don't feel the same way about the newer books. The last five years or so have brought books that were lackluster to say the least and Anita has started to lose her edge in a big way, so I have not read them quite as avidly as I had when I first did.

#4
Jaye Wells

This is not an author that is common to alot of people, but I find her stories to be very good. For a long time I was very into the whole vampire book thing like many people were, so as I began to venture from Young Adult fiction into Adult fiction, I was opened to a whole new world of authors! Wells's Sabina Kane series was my first experience with the author and it made me want more! I was so excited when a few years ago she started another series called Prospero's War. This series was amazing and defintely left me wanting more and hoping that there is going to be more books in the future for this series.

#3
Vic James

A new author in my little list, but still just as great as the rest, James's Dark Gifts series is action packed and full of what ifs! Set in London, the world James creates asks the question, what if magic were real. The caste system in the book gives it an old timey-feel and it almost feels a little steampunk in some ways. The third and final book in the series comes out October 9th!

#2
Seanan McGuire

The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire is probably one of my favorites. It took the place of Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series when I stopped reading those. Set in the San Francisco Bay area, you go all over the place and into the realm of Fae. But this is not your typical faerie story. Inside these books are mystery and death and romance and anything else you could think of all wrapped up into one neat little package.

#1
Gail Carriger

I'm going to be honest here. I have not read a book by this woman that I have not absolutely loved. My first experience with her was her Finishing School series where I met the most off the wall characters. Fast forward a little bit and I got to meet some new friends and get reaquainted with old ones in her Parasol Protectorate series. Fast forward to now and I'm still happily ensconced in her books and just as in love with her current series The Custard Protocol. I've picked up some of her novellas and have literally loved every bit of what I have read by her. Her books are Steampunk and set during Victorian era in London, most of the time anyway. Her writing style is just perfect for the characters she creates and I sincerely hope that she continues to write for a long, long time!

Thanks for coming guys! Hopefully you enjoyed these top five I had for you today. Let me know if you like Science Fiction and Fantasy and let me know what your favorite book is or who your favorite author is!
